An iPhone or iPad on iOS or iPadOS 17 or later, and a stand facing the room. For a TV or projector, an HDMI adapter for your device (the steadier choice) or AirPlay. Keep it on power for anything longer than an hour. A second iPhone as the remote is optional and needs no purchase. No laptop and no VJ.
Yes. Free runs the whole live show with the Tunnel backdrop and Fill silhouette, recording, PRIVACY and one saved message. Personal unlocks every look, the iPhone remote and your own logo. Commercial removes LousyMonkey's branding everywhere and adds unattended venue mode. Both are one-time in-app purchases, not subscriptions.
If you play paid gigs under your own name, such as weddings, private parties, club nights or bars, choose Commercial. Personal keeps a small LousyMonkey logo on the screen and in your clips; Commercial takes it off, so the room only sees your name. Many DJs sell the screen as an add-on.
No. The camera, movement and music are analysed on your device, and nothing is uploaded. It records only when you tap REC, and clips save to your Photos.
Yes. Pick the Wedding or Corporate vibe: warmer or cooler colours, calmer backdrops, and flashing limited to one flash per second, the same as Reduce Flashing. For audiences sensitive to intense visuals, also review the in-app photosensitivity notice and iOS Reduce Motion.
Whenever iOS offers an external screen, over a wired HDMI adapter or AirPlay, the audience gets a clean picture while your controls stay on your device, and it reconnects by itself if the display drops. For a venue, a wired adapter is the steadier choice. Compatibility depends on your device and the adapter or AirPlay receiver.
